Our integration is complete from disease and pest resistant, high-yield seeds to growth accelerators, bio-fertilizers to bio-pesticides, bio-insecticides, and biological seed and foliar treatments.

Ponalab began as a manufacturer of bio-fertilizers and bio-pesticides, as well as animal feed products and enzymes for poultry, swine and cattle.

The focus on agricultural products and its vision resulted in the acquisition of Dhisha Seeds, a Research and development-driven manufacturer of high-yield, disease and pest resistant seeds.

In 2008, the Ponalab campaign for better crops saw the establishment of a dedicated unit focused on insect pheromones and insect traps, registered as Ponalab Bio-Growth.

Also in 2008, the partnership with Carlsbad BioSystems, USA paved the way for the development of bio-fertilizers, bio-pesticides, pheromones and pro-biotics, and resulted in a phenomenal rise in Ponalab’s ability to provide comprehensive and sustainable solutions to farmers across the world.

Ponalab was established in 2006 with the help of the National Horticultural Mission, Government of India, to provide agricultural and livestock farmers with sustainable solutions for organic farming. Since its inception, Ponalab has established two Research and Development units at Bangalore and Mysore, alongside 6 field units spread across India, focused on developing solutions for the specific soil, climate and crop types of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. Some of the products developed from our research capabilities include:

  • Diganth, a biopesticide that develops and enhances the dissemination of beneficial nematodes for the management of sucking pests such as whitefly and Aphids.
  • Metanem is another combination of beneficial nematodes and Microsclerotia for the long term control of sugarcane shoot borer Chilo infuscatellus
  • Biotermicide is yet another project aimed at developing a solution that aids in the dissemination of an attractant-based symbiotic bacteria Alcaligenes sp. Flavobacterium sp. and Providencia sp. for managing wood-eating termites in wood plantations such as Teak.
  • Xylorhab is a project for the evaluation of pathogenic bacteria associated with the rhabditid nematodes on coffee stem borer Xylotrechus quadripes.
  • Nemacap is a project that is focusing on developing capsule-based nematode formulations for pest management
